Siblings Meet
For children residing in institutional care, separation from siblings is often one of the most painful realities they face. Our Children (OC) understands that the bond between siblings is a source of emotional strength, comfort, and identity. To nurture this crucial bond, OC organises the Siblings Meet, a heartwarming initiative that brings together brothers and sisters who live in different Child Welfare Institutions across Mumbai.
Held annually, the Siblings Meet is a day filled with laughter, shared meals, interactive games, creative activities, and quiet moments of bonding. Every child gets photographed with their sibling(s) and receives a copy of the photo to keep – a simple gesture that makes the day even more memorable and cherished.
The event provides siblings with precious time to reconnect, strengthen their relationship, and create memories that stay with them long after they part. Volunteers and mentors facilitate activities designed to promote teamwork, trust, and affection, ensuring that every child feels supported and valued.
The Meet also serves a deeper purpose. It reminds each child that despite being in separate institutions, they remain part of a family unit that loves and belongs to each other. For many siblings, this day becomes a source of renewed hope and motivation to work towards a future where they can live together again.
By organising the Siblings Meet, Our Children reinforces its core commitment: to not only provide children with opportunities for growth and learning but also to nurture their emotional well-being, ensuring that no child grows up feeling alone in the world.
